Randy Francis Stensgaard was born on July 26, 1954, in Tyler, Minnesota, to Stanley Christopher and Edna Viola (Mickelsen) Stensgaard. He spent his early years growing up on the family farm near Tyler, Minnesota. After graduating from Tyler Public School in 1972, Randy set off on a journey that would lead him to a life filled with adventure, laughter, and cherished memories. On April 25, 1981, Randy found his soulmate, Susan Stensgaard, and they were united in marriage at Peace Lutheran Church in Ruthton, Minnesota. The couple’s love flourished in Florence, Minnesota, where they built a life together starting in 1983. Randy dedicated himself to his craft as a carpet installer and roofer, a profession he pursued with passion until his well-deserved retirement in 2019. Randy passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at his home in Florence at the age of 70.
Randy’s zest for life was evident in all he did. An avid hunter and fisherman. He also had a love for sports; he reveled in watching games and was known for his competitive spirit while playing pool, darts, and bowling with friends. Randy was also a passionate golfer, celebrating remarkable accomplishments including two holes-in-one at the Tyler Golf Course in 2017 and 2018—achievements he warmly recounted with pride.
Randy will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Susan, of Florence, Minnesota; his son, Kyle Stensgaard of Ruthton, Minnesota; and his siblings, Iona Arndt of Marshall, Minnesota, and Steve (Rita) Stensgaard of Eden Prairie, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stan and Edna; his siblings, Gordon, Ruth Ann, and Roger; his cherished daughter, Megan; and his father-in-law, Melvin Vos.
