Randy James Taylor, 68, of Independence Missouri passed away on February 2nd 2026, surrounded by his family.
Randy was born April 23rd, 1957 to James Erwin Taylor and Ruthanna (Clary) Taylor. He grew up in Kansas City and attended Truman High School. He married Deborah Taylor in July of 1981 and became parents to 6 children; eventually growing to 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was an avid crappie fisherman, morel mushroom hunter and BBQ enthusiast. Randy loved his wife and family, hosting all the yearly family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Jerry and Scott Taylor. He is survived by his sister Terri Anderson, wife Debbie, and 6 children: Randy, Brent, April and Nick Taylor and, David and Jeff Weissman; along with his 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Randys’ Celebration of life will be held Friday, February 27th, at the VFW; 329 SW Douglas St, in Lee’s Summit from 1-5pm. Barbecue will be provided, sides and favorite dishes welcome. Flower arrangements can be sent to the VFW on the day of.
The family would like to thank the caregivers and providers of John Knox Village Hospice for their compassion and support for Randy and his family during this time.
