Shane and Randys Running Crew Speten
November 5, 2019
Our deepest condolences to the loving Ulery family. I was blessed to know Randy for many years. I met him at Centegra Healthbridge fitness center. He was an advent runner, spin cyclist and swimmer. Over the years, he became part of our tri/running group. His jovial personality and upbeat attitude was contagious. He always shared a smile and a great sense of humor.
Randy introduced Bruce Putman, Todd Loehner, Russ Reinhart, Julio Zuleta and myself to trail running at Veteran Acres. Randy knew everybody on the trail. Always saying hello by name to others. We often kidded with him and called him the Mayor of Veterans Acres.
Randy will always hold the mental toughness title. He's the only guy we knew who could run an indoor marathon (324 laps) at Centegra gym. And his fuel...twinkies! And, he did this more than once. It was a birthday tradition for him for many years. As many of you know, last February his community of family and friends joined him and each ran a mile or so for him and together they ran 26.2 miles to keep his birthday tradition alive.
Randy was an inspiration to many. He touched our lives with his All In mantra and left his positive thumbprint on us. God bless Randy and God bless the amazing Ulery family. When we feel that warm sunshine on our faces running up Veteran Acres hills, will know its you cheering us on Randy! We will see you on the trails! Shane, Bruce, Todd, Russ and Julio.
