Rani Emmanuel a loving mother, gifted musician, devoted teacher, and a woman whose life was marked by creativity, discipline, and faithful service to God and fellow beings through music, laughter and love. A beloved and only daughter of the late Charles Emmanuel and Kamalamma Emmanuel, and a cherished sister, by her lovingly brothers and spouses Conrad & Leela, Anthony & Pushpa, and shared a close-knit bond with surviving brother Lenny & Gladys. Rani was a loving wife to Isaac Swaminathan, devoted mother to her children Pramilla & Robert, Prathima & Elvis, Prakash & Preetha.
Rani mom, a loving, proud and doting grandmother to Pradyot, Pratyush, Ethan and Oshien, her grand-goddaughters and spouses Rithmah & David, Maureen & Reuel, and Reumah & Ernest as well as her great-grand-god-children Eliana, Elijah, Kaeden, Jyrah, and Tirzah. She leaves behind her admiring and adoring cousins, nieces, nephews, beloved friends and well-wishers, all of whom were deeply touched by her love, warmth, wisdom, and counsel.
From a very young age, Rani displayed an exceptional musical talent. She went on to study music at the Royal School of Music- London, that laid a strong foundation for a lifelong vocation. At just 17 years, she began teaching music, a divine calling she faithfully pursued for decades.
Rani dedicated her gift of music by playing at St. Mary's Church – Secunderabad to worship and lead people in prayer. She dedicated her life to shaping young minds and nurturing musical excellence. In the twin cities of Secunderabad- Hyderabad, India, she taught as a music teacher at prestigious institutions as Hendricks School, Faust Kindergarten, Tiny Tots School, St. Ann's School, Bolarum, St. Patrick's High School, Hyderabad Public School-Begumpet, Geethanjali School and St. Andrew's School, leaving an inspiring impact on many generations of students. Rani shaped young minds and nurtured musical talents into excellence in playing and performance. Many of her students successfully completed music grades through Trinity College – London and the Royal School of Music – London, a testament to her teaching skills, dedication, discipline, and commitment to excellence.
Beyond the classroom, Rani used her God-given gift of music to enrich the wider community. She conducted plays, musical productions, original compositions, concerts, and radio programs, bringing joy and inspiration wherever she served. She won the All-India Original Composition Competition, organized by Cadbury, titled "Cadbury Tango," which was aired on BBC Radio anchored by the Ameen Sayani. In a remarkable honor, she also played the piano for The Mother Teresa, sharing her gift with one of the doyens and most beloved Saint of our time.
Even in the face of personal challenges, Rani's spirit shone brightly. She always carried a smile, even during hard times, had a witty sense of humor, a talent for mimicry, which made everyone around her laugh and smile. She treated everyone as if they were her own children, drawing people to herself like a magnet. Although she was Visually Impaired, her faith in God and her Savior Jesus Christ gave her immense courage, boldness and strength. She could play the piano perfectly after hearing a tune or song only once. She loved taking requests from everyone she met, sharing her gifts joyfully and freely. With the advent of technology, she made music videos to greet and wish everyone on their special days. She and her band have a juke box collection on YouTube.
In 2024, Rani was recognized as one of America's Top 20 Women of Excellence, which was by hosted by Dr. Vijay Prabhakar Founder and Director of Global Eye Magazine at their 4th Annual International Women's Day, honoring her outstanding contributions and excellence across music, education, and community service by U.S Congressman Danny K. Davis, and US Congressman Jonathan Jackson Jr.
Rani Emmanuel's legacy lives on through her family, students, and the countless lives touched by her music and love. Her life was a melody of dedication, passion, grace, and joy; One that will continue to resonate for generations to come.
