Rasheed Mells Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Perry Funeral Home - Newark on Jul. 25, 2022.
Rasheed Mells was born on June 30, 1998 to Rasheed Graham and Dannielle Mells. He was conceived in Livingston, NJ at Saint Barnabas but raised in Newark, NJ. He attended University High School where he received his high school diploma in 2016. Immediately after, he enrolled in Jersey City Community College with the help of his dad, but Rasheed had other plans.
Rasheed, better known as Trippo, wanted to pursue his dream of becoming a famous rap artist. He was one of Newark's finest up-and-coming stars. He had such a charismatic personality, was so free spirited, and just a ray of light whenever he walked into a room. All he wanted to do was live life with his family. In his younger days Rasheed was a dancing machine, life of the party dancing off that Jersey Club. If he wasn't dancing during that time he was playing sports. Dancing and rapping were his extracurricular activities. This he did every chance he got. Music became his passion, his love, and he was devoted.
Rasheed was a great hearted kid that just wanted to see the good in everyone. He was a man that had a spirit you just couldn't forget, very spiritual. He had knowledge beyond what most could understand. He would always educate, even his mom on things she never knew. To her, he was the most intelligent man she knew. "Her guy", as he would call him, always remained a kid at heart. Family was very important to Rasheed.
Rasheed was preceded in death by: his father, Rasheed Fuquan Graham; his brother, Savion Mells; his sister, Ahjanae Venable Graham; his uncle, Wali Mells; and his grandfathers, Andrew Graham and Curtis Crawford.
Rasheed leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Dannielle Mells; his surviving children, Yaseen Mells and Ahjanae Mells; girlfriend, Alicia Jones; great grandparents, Tinnie and Jerry Mells, Hubert and Julia Graham; grandmother, Diana Mells; his brother, Samaj Mells; his sister, Skylar Graham; along with one uncle, eight aunts, cousins that were like siblings to him, and a host of extended relatives and friends.
