RASTINE JONES Jr., a cherished figure in every sense, departed this world on December 1, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Born on February 17, 1931, in Bryan, Texas, Rastine lived a life rich with the threads of family, duty, and community. He was a devoted bus driver for DART, a steadfast contributor to the daily lives of those around him, ferrying just passengers but countless smiles.
With a character as vibrant as the Texas sun, Rastine was known for his strong, witty, and feisty personality. He was equally giving, wrapping those he loved in layers of laugh-filled moments and a love that ran deep. His pride shone brightest in the roles he cherished most: a loving husband to Lorelle Jones and a father to their five adoring daughters. Memories of him walking them down the aisle resonate as powerful affirmations of the bond they shared—a testament to a father who did all that fathers do.
Rastine's culinary skills were legendary, born out of patience and a desire to connect with his daughters, each of whom possessed her unique spirit. His passion for cooking defined family gatherings, filled with the aroma of shared meals and laughter. These moments were punctuated by the joyous noise of Margarita Time, where he truly let loose, adding zest to the already flavorful gatherings.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Rastine offered his service to the country with dignity and respect, carrying the values of duty and sacrifice into every role he undertook. His commitment to his faith was equally profound, serving as a deacon in his church and nurturing a deep sense of community. Singing in the choir, he lifted his voice to the heavens, a harmony that mirrored the heart of a man who found joy in his faith and fellowship.
Life beyond his family was anchored in the passions that defined his days—watching the Dallas Cowboys, traveling to experiences that would become stories, and sharing meals at Red Lobster, where the clink of cutlery was accompanied by the warmth of his laughter. Rastine Jones Jr. embodied a love for life that enveloped everyone lucky enough to cross his path.
He leaves behind memories woven with love, resilience, and joy, embraced by his family. As we gather to celebrate the richness of his life, we invite friends and loved ones to honor his legacy with shared stories and warm remembrance.
