It is with great sadness to announce Raul Zuluaga, age 80, died on Sunday, November 2, 2025. He was born on August 26, 1945 to the late Florentina and Alberto Zuluaga in Sevilla, Valle del Cauca, Colombia.
Raul came to the United States in 1972, embracing a new chapter that would fuel his lifelong spirit of adventure. Over the next several decades, his curiosity and love of exploration carried him across every continent driven by his passion for adventure and learning about new cultures
Raul loved spending time at his homes in New Jersey and Florida, where he always found time to enjoy the outdoors and nature. Whether he was walking wooded paths, cycling along scenic routes, or simply sitting quietly alone to listen to the chorus of birds, and always hoping to catch a glimpse of a bear moving through the dappled sunlight. Raul also enjoyed fishing in quiet lakes, and swimming in the ocean. Each experience filled him with a sense of wonder and brought him closer to the beauty and peace of the natural world. Raul cherished these moments of connection with the natural world, finding beauty and peace wherever his journey took him. He was a workaholic and would do anything for anyone.
Raul was devoted to his religious faith and truly committed to his family, especially his wife of 29 years. He always encouraged her to continue her education and gave her a helping hand. Raul was a man who was very grateful and proud of his heritage and family.
Raul will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Dora (nee Medina), his brothers Carlos, Jaime, Fernando, Pedro, Fabio, and Riccardo, his sisters Magnolia, Faidor, Ruby and Marina and his loving nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his parents, his brother Nestor and his sister Lily.
