Ray David Bankard

Ray David Bankard, 84, of Westminster MD, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024, at BridgingLife Dove House. Ray was born on January 16, 1940, in Carroll County. He was the son of the late Earl and Loretta (Gorsuch) Bankard. Married for 59 years, he was the loving husband of the late Betty Marie Bankard, who predeceased him on December 12, 2018. Ray graduated from North Hagerstown High School in 1958. He was a pipefitter/welder at Southern Mechanical, Inc. for 47 years, until his retirement in 2007. Ray enjoyed tractors, bluegrass music, and was always willing to lend a hand to help others. Surviving him are children Donna Eckard and her husband Tony of Westminster, Dianne Bankard of Manchester, and David Bankard and his wife Amy of Westminster; grandchildren Mark Eckard, Ryan Hann, Jackson and Lily Bankard; brothers Charlie and Richard Bankard; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by siblings Earl Bankard, George Bankard, Mildred Cline, and Margaret Egolf. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, MD. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
