Ray Picon Garza of Abilene passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Funeral Services will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 20th, 2026. Visitation will be held Monday, January 19, 2026, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM with a rosary starting at 6:00PM at North's Funeral Home
Reynaldo "Ray" Garza was born in Brady, Tx. to Donaciano De La Garza and Anatalia Picon on Dec. 8, 1944. He married the love of his life, Juana Aguilar, on May 16, 1965 in Winters, Tx. He was a long-time member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Abilene, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Ray was an outdoors man, he loved hunting, fishing and camping. He enjoyed living life outside with his family. One of his hobbies was watching old western movies with a good cup of coffee. He loved spending his free time cooking and making jerky. Ray was one to love his family and friends always. Another of his favorite things which he built a lifelong career around was welding and auto mechanics, his great talents earned him the nickname "SuperMex".
Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Juana A. Garza; parents, Donaciano De La Garza and Anatalia Picon; sister, Molly Saldana.
He is survived by his sons, Tony (Connie) of Abilene, Robert (Kathe) of North Richland Hills and Manuel ( Lorena) of Abilene; siblings, Josie Escobar(Houston), Olivia Patino(Abilene), Margie Castillo (California), Connie Cutting (Michigan), Chano De La Garza (Abilene), Evangelina Soto (Coleman), Johnny De La Garza (Abilene); 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandkids.
Pallbearers: Gabriel Anthony Garza, Xavier Michael Cortez, Orijha Joseph Cortez, Dreylyn Carter Watkins, Nathen Elrod and Joseph Elrod.
