Ray Muncy, age 80, resident of Shelby, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024 at Avita Health Systems in Ontario, following a brief illness.
Born August 13, 1943 in Wayne County, Kermit, West Virginia to Basil and Dillie (Marcum) Muncy, he had been a Shelby resident for over 60 years. Ray was employed with the Tuby in Shelby for over 30 years before his retirement in 2008. A member of the Shelby FOE, VFW, Moose, Owls, and a previous member of the Sons of AMVETS. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, attending dirt track races, classic cars and restoring them. Ray loved watching football, and rooting for his beloved Cincinnati Bengals, WHO DEY!
He is survived by his wife Donna (Milligan) Muncy, whom he wed August 17, 1984; five children, Denise (David) Friebel of Shelby, Teresa Muncy of Columbus, Ray Muncy (LaShonda Clark) Jr. of Shelby, Tyler (Cietta) Muncy of Plymouth, Kristen Karnuth of Odessa, Washington; 11 grandchildren; five great grandchildren and one on the way; two siblings, Jesse Muncy of Marietta, Patty (Ben DeSpain) Adkins of Belpre, OH; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his three sisters Lottie Conley, Lola Fernan and Pearl Stumbo; and one brother Jimmie Muncy.
Friends may visit the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory Friday, February 9, 2024 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM. Pastor Doug Tackett will officiate with interment held at the Little London Cemetery in Shelby.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude PL Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or The American Breast Cancer Foundation at 28 West 44th Street, Suite 609, New York, NY 10036.
