Marl Raymond 'Ray' Westcott, Jr. , 58, of Mimosa Avenue Drexel, passed away Saturday February 3, 2007 at Valdese General Hospital following a period of declining health. Ray was born on August 19, 1948 in Syracuse, N.Y. to Marl Raymond Westcott, Sr. and the late Rose Marie Harris Westcott. He was a former NC State Plumbing Contractor, and also was an avid Ham Radio Operator. Survivors include his wife, Linda Stiles Westcott of the home; his father, Marl Raymond Westcott, Sr. of Brown Summit, his son, Michael R. Westcott and wife Lisa of Connelly Springs; five Grandchildren, Brittany, Mikey, Jessica, Michelle, and Mason Westcott; one great grandchild, Serenity Bryant; one sister, Patti Wooten and husband Jim of Brown Summit, one brother, Clarence Westcott and wife Susan of Brown Summit; two nephews, Christopher Westcott and Jacob Wooten. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Monday February 5, 2007 in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese. Officiating will be Rick Hildebran, Minister of Family Care, First Baptist Church Icard. The family will receive friends following the service. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday February 6, 2007 at New Bessemer Baptist Church, McLeansville, N.C. Officiating will be Rev. Don Clement. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorial gifts may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 190 Icard, N.C. 28666 or New Bessemer Baptist Church, 4115 Hines Chapel Rd. McLeansville, N.C. 27301.
