Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Monday, November 5, 2012 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Ray J. Yount, 72, who passed away November 3, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Reverend John Wamsley, Pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church, will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Ray, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin Yount of Wilmot, AR and the former Wilda Lisle of Houston, TX. Ray was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved life in "Sportsman's Paradise". He was a graduate of Belle Chasse High School and LSU with a degree in marketing. He was a salesman for numerous years. In 1984, he and his wife opened Greek Expressions, serving UL student and community organizations. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eleanor Mitchell Yount of Lafayette, LA; one son, Dr. Nelson B. Yount and wife, Roxanne of West Monroe, LA; two daughters, Marcia Y. Davis and husband, Steve of Goose Greek, SC and Shari Y. Saloom and husband, Gregory of Lafayette, LA; eight grandchildren, Elyse, Aimee, Alex, and Ethan Yount, Margaret and Mitchell Davis, Katherine and Jordan Saloom and three brothers, Ben Frank Yount of Federal Way, WA, his twin, Royce D. Yount, Sr. of Houston, TX and Alan H. Yount of Bentonville, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Sunday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and continue on Monday from 7:00 am until services. Pallbearers will be Alex and Ethan Yount, grandsons; Alan Yount, brother; Steve Davis and Gregory Saloom, sons-in-law and Clifford Treuil, lifelong friend. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Leo DeAlvare, the Lourdes ICU nursing staff and Drs. Chen, Fei and Blappert. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Grace Presbyterian Church, 518 Roselawn Drive, Lafayette, LA 70503 or the charity of your choice. Personal condolences may be sent to the family at www.delhommefuneralhome.com. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
