Raymond C. Alter

Raymond C. Alter, 97, passed away Thursday, June 5 at Kingston Care Center. He was the son of Frank E. and Eleanora (Schone) Alter, he married Ursula J. Giere on January 3, 1946. He worked for the Wayne Pump Co. for eleven years, the last six as office manager for the Air Scale Division, Delta, OH. He worked for the Parrot Meat Packing Co. for 36 years in various positions including Purchasing Agent, Office Manager and Controller, retiring in 1986. He was an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church, previously St. Peter's Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he was a Past Grand Knight of the Father Thomas A. Brandon Council 451, a Past Faithful Navigator of the Anthony Wayne Assembly, a Past State Deputy of the Indiana Knights of Columbus, a Past President of the Board of Directors of Gibault, Inc. school for delinquent boys and girls, Terre Haute, IN. He received the Sagamore of the Wabash Award in 1996. He is survived by a son, Gerard J. Alter, Louisville, KY, four daughters, Barbara J. (Thomas) Rogers, Jensen Beach, FL, Rita M. Alter, Jeanne M. (Andrew) Bolds, Fort Wayne, IN, Mary (David) Nuttle, Spencerville, IN, grandchildren Christopher (Jennifer) Alter, William (Kelly) Alter, Melissa Alter, Teresa (Kevin) Hayes, Lauren Alter, Damian Rogers, Natalie Rogers, Chad Andorfer, Beth (Jeff) Barbour, great-grandchildren Triston and Trevor Andorfer, Haley, Allison, Patrick and Liam Alter, Pablo and Damon Morrobel and Reagan Hayes, brothers Frank E. Alter, Tampa, FL, Joseph A. (Shirley) Alter, Fort Wayne, a sister Helen R. Darling, Decatur, IN, brother-in-law Paul Gordon, Payne, OH, and sister-in-law Sister Alice J. Giere, Elm Grove, WI. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, daughter Dorothy J., two sons Thomas A. and Frances J., daughter-in-law Janet M. (Buescher) Alter, great-grandchildren Addison, Thomas and Adelaide Alter, brothers Albert H. and Jerome F., sisters Mary Jane Cains and Maxine V. Gordon. Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, June 11th at 10:30 am with calling 1 hour prior at St. Jude Catholic Church with calling one hour prior. Calling Tuesday, June 10th from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00, with rosary recited at 3:30 at D.O.
