Raymond Amaker

A beloved husband, son, brother, father and friend, Raymond Amaker was granted his holy wings, at 76, on Thursday, February 24, 2022. Born on June 19, 1945, in Swansea, SC, he was the son of Cradell and Annie Lou (Thompson) Amaker. Raymond was one of eight children. He spent his final days surrounded by family and his adoring children. Raymond loved cooking, the outdoors, antiques, long drives, and listening to music, but he loved his family most of all. He was deeply feeling, a thinker, and an amazing storyteller. His legacy will live on through his children, the life stories he shared with his family and friends, and in his "secret recipes". Affectionally called "Popa Smurf" and "Popi", Raymond was the person you sought for advice, help, and honesty. He was fiercely loyal and a fatherlike figure to many. Raymond is survived by the love of his life, Patricia; eight children, Kim and her husband Reg, Karen, Krystal, China, Kamara, Brian and his wife Rose, Maya and Justin; eleven grandchildren, Christian, Kristina, Reginald, Samaya, Avery, Kristopher, Jeremiah, Damien, Daniella, Judah, and Layton, and many greatgrandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and his brother, Al. We will never forget his smile, commanding presence, food, and unapologetic self-pride. When you think of Raymond, celebrate the good memories you have of him. Remember that he will forever be with us. A Celebration of his life for family and friends will be held at the Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, CT on Saturday, March 5th from 2pm to 3:30pm.
