Raymond Earl Bates, of Manton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital. He was 60.

Raymond was born on January 13, 1965 to Marjorie Ann (Clawson) Lalonde in Goshen, Indiana. After dating for over four years, on October 29, 2004, he entered into marriage with the love of his life, Helen Mae McDaniel. The couple had a true love story, meeting by chance over a CB radio, and the rest was history. Raymond dedicated his career to helping others, he worked many years as a direct care worker, a job he truly enjoyed. He was both gentle and caring, and would help anyone in need. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Helen Bates; son, Raymond Cross; grandchildren, Dalton McDaniel and Raeann Berg; step-sons, Kody Weinrick, Jesse Weinrick and Sonny McDaniel; adopted daughter, Brianna Duzan; sister, Angie Lalonde; nieces and nephew, Ashleigh, Peyton, Hannah and Brandon; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Lalonde; and his in-laws, Dallas and Beverly McDaniel.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
