Raymond Bohnarcyk, of Pompton Plains, passed away on August 30, 2025.
Born and raised in Passaic, NJ, Raymond was the youngest child of Matthew and Mary Bohnarcyk. After graduating from high school, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy.
On May 27, 1961, Raymond married the love of his life, Margaret Wiatrak. The following year, they welcomed their first daughter, Marilyn, and in 1963, they settled in Pompton Plains, where their second daughter, Diane, was born. Together, Margaret and Raymond built a beautiful life, enjoying gardening and turning their house into a warm and welcoming home.
A devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Raymond was a beloved member of the church choir for nearly 50 years. Known for his strong work ethic, Raymond began his career as a milkman for VanHerde Dairy before joining Otis Elevator, where he earned the nickname "Sparky," and later spending the majority of his career with ITI Electronics.
Raymond was a loving father and proud grandfather, always happiest when surrounded by his family. He loved a good meal and believed every dinner deserved dessert. He and Margaret often celebrated special occasions at their favorite diner, where he never strayed from his signature order: chicken parmesan followed by a slice of chocolate cream pie.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Margaret; his daughters, Marilyn Simonds and her husband Kenneth and Diane Allard; his grandchildren, Kevin and Brian and his nephew, Joseph and his wife Amanda. He was predeceased by his siblings, Edward and Maryann; and his son in-law, William.
Famiy and friends may visit from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, September 4 at Our Lady of Good Counsel RC Church, Pompton Plains. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am on Friday at Our Lady of Good Counsel. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Magnificat Church Cemetery, Kinnelon.
