Raymond "Ray" Michael Ciafardini, Sr., 67, of Decatur, Georgia, unexpectedly passed away on January 28, 2024, after experiencing cardiac arrest at Emory Decatur Hospital.
Ray was born in the Bronx, NY. He attended St. Anthony's High School, where he graduated in 1974. He went on to earn a degree in Mass Communication from The University of Miami in 1978 (and yes – "It's all about the U"). While there, he was selected for the Iron Arrow Honor Society, one of Miami's highest achievements.
After college, Ray pursued many interests in his professional life, from radio advertising sales to technical services, each with passion and resiliency.
Family and friends describe Ray as having been passionate, creative, and the "smartest person [they] knew." His passion for music was contagious. His loyalty to his favorite sports teams was only surpassed by his loyalty to those he loved. Whether it was a meal with friends and family, enjoying a live show, or attending a game, Ray knew how to have a good time.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Dolores, and is survived by his two sons, Raymond (Robyn) and Christopher (Allison); their mother and his former wife, Christine; granddaughter, Ruby; his four siblings, Denise, Caryl, Jill (Steve), Richard, and their families. Above all, Ray loved his large family and lifelong college friends.
Ray's memorial mass will be held at 11:30am, Saturday March 16th at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 29 Clay Pitts Road, Greenlawn, NY 11740.
In memory of Ray, the family asks that donations be made to: International Bipolar Foundation | Hope, Resources & Support (ibpf.org)

I have known Ray since we were Freshmen at St. Anthony's. He was always there when needed. We shared many a laugh, many a beer and many a good time. Rock on, Ray, Rock on.

Ray and I met the first week we started school at the []_[]niversity of Miami, and the friendly leadership rivalry we had led us both to accomplishing great things. You'll be missed, Ray-o! --Shags
