Raymond Clifford Davis passed away on September 4, 2023. He was born in Martinez, California on December 5, 1931, to Ray Jewett Davis and Ruth Janet Davis. His childhood was spent in El Cerrito, CA with his brothers, Dan and Jim, and sister, Gladys. Ray married Bertie Caulk on August 25, 1956. They moved to Los Angeles where he worked for eight years as a machinist with Lockheed. The family returned to the SF Bay Area, living in Richmond, CA, and Ray started his 30-year career, retiring in 1996, as a Longshoreman, working for ILWU. In 1970, the family moved from Richmond to Martinez, CA. In 2005, Ray and Bertie moved to Brookings, Oregon to be near family. Ray and Bertie were members of the Pleasant Hill Caravaners RV Club in California for many years. Ray enjoyed playing "Texas Hold 'em" at the casino and Elks Lodge #1934 in Brooking, the Dummy Rummy Card game with family and friends, and he loved his desserts with a big glass of milk. His motto was "Eat Dessert First".
Ray is survived by his daughter, Linda (Pat) Coyne-Steele of Brookings, OR; son John Davis of Eureka, CA; son Robert Davis of Eureka, CA and son Mike McIntyre of San Jose. Grandsons: Scott Steele, Tyler Davis and Joshua Davis; Granddaughters Tiana Davis, Danielle Davis, Erica Davis and Nikole Fraser; two great-granddaughters (Bryce and Kylee) and three great-grandsons (Bentley, Tyson and Phoenix). Ray was preceded in death by his Mom, Dad, Brothers, Sister and his Wife.
A graveside service will be on Sunday, September 17th, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Oakmont Memorial Park, 2099 Reliez Valley Road, Lafayette, CA, where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Bertie Davis.
