Raymond Douglas Amos, 85, of Cleveland, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, on November 11, 2025. Born on March 2, 1940, in Mt. Airy, Georgia, Doug was the son of the late Raymond and Elberta Faye Amos.
Doug married his high school sweetheart, Vivian Knight, in 1961 and together they raised two children. Doug faithfully followed his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ all his life and served as a deacon at Center Baptist Church. He was known to his family and friends as a wise, gentle leader and true man of God.
Doug is survived by his wife, Vivian Knight Amos; his children, Christopher Amos (Carrie) and Pamela Walden; his grandchildren, Olivia Campbell (David) and Benjamin Walden; his siblings, Marinell Batson (James D.) and Clifton Amos (Janell); and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Center Baptist Church in Helen, Georgia on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 12:30 P.M. The Rev. Roy Holbrooks, Rev. Michael Wilkes, Mr. Benjamin Walden and Mr. Chris Amos will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. View Baptist Church Cemetery on Tesnatee Gap Valley Road. The family will receive friends from 11am-12 Noon on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the church, prior to the service.
