Raymond Einhouse Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 18, 2016.
Raymond Dale Einhouse, 90, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully at Genesis West Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa, on Wednesday evening, February 10, 2016.

Mr. Einhouse was born on April 15, 1925 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Edward and Carolyn (Elstner) Einhouse. He graduated from Belle Vernon (PA) High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II as a ball turret gunner on a B-17, flying numerous missions over Germany. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1945. Ray married Doris Marsden on November 17, 1948 in Winchester, VA. They were the parents of four children. Ray worked for many years at Continental Equipment Company, later Fisher Controls, in Coraopolis, PA, and Marshalltown, IA, beginning as a draftsman and ending his career as an engineering sales representative, retiring in 1983. Upon retirement, he and Doris moved to Fruitland Park, Florida. He was preceded in death by Doris in January, 2002. He married Ihlo Faye Leinbaugh on September 7, 2002. They moved to Lost Nation, Iowa, in 2011. Ray was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Fruitland Park and attended the Lost Nation Presbyterian Church until moving to Clover Ridge Place in Maquoketa. Ray loved dogs, Snickers, and cars, especially Cadillacs. He was an out-going, friendly man who loved his country and never met a stranger. Ray will be greatly missed.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Doris; one brother, Albert; two sisters, Evelyn and Dolores; and son, Richard. He is survived by his second wife, Faye, of Maquoketa; son, Jeffrey (Patricia) of Tarpon Springs, FL; daughters, Lyndsay (William) Alimena of Snellville, GA; and Kim (Richard) Dancey of Peoria, IL; step-son, Dennis (Mary) Leinbaugh of Columbus, Ohio; step-daughters, Pam (Tom) Peckosh of Rapid City, SD and Carm (Don) Schneider of Lost Nation, IA; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren, 39 step-great-grandchildren, and 2 step great, great-grandchildren.

Ray's family is especially grateful to the medical staff at Genesis East, Jackson County Hospital, the Clover Ridge family, and especially to his step-daughter, Carm Schneider and her husband Don for the love, care, and support given to our dad.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service, officiated by Ray's grandson, Drew Dancey, that will be held in the chapel of Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Gotha, FL, on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. Military rights will be observed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Honor Flight Program, https://www.honorflight.org/donate-now/, in Ray's memory.
