Raymond D. Fritz

PENN YAN - Raymond D. Fritz, 74, passed away suddenly Sunday October 19, 2025.

Family and friends may call 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Thursday October 30 at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, 46 W. Main St., Waterloo, N.Y. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton, CT.

Ray was born August 16, 1951 to Raymond and Frances Fritz. He was raised in Seneca Falls, N.Y., where he graduated from Mynderse Academy High School and then studied Electrical Engineering at Iowa State University in Ames, IA. While at Iowa State, he joined Phi Kappa Tau fraternity, serving for a year as President of its local Alpha Nu Chapter.

In the early 1970's, Ray became a missionary in Central America for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, returning to his local church congregation to serve in various capacities. He later continued his education at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. Ray served as President of Empire State Homes, through which he offered residential rental services to the community. He was also a devoted son to his parents throughout their lives. He was always the one who was ready to help anyone who needed anything. And we will miss his cheery smile and sense of humor.

Ray is survived by two sisters, Francine Dougherty and Gaynell Fritz; nephew Mike Dougherty of Austin, TX; and two nieces, Christina Dougherty of Waterloo, N.Y. and Ashley Franklin of Dumfries, VA. He was predeceased by his parents.
