Raymond Joseph Lelievre

Raymond Joseph “Ray” Lelievre, 67, of Littleton, Massachusetts, passed away on Saturday, December 30th, 2023, at his home following a period of illness. 

Ray was born in Waltham, Massachusetts on March 5th, 1956, the second of eight children born to Gemma (Breau) Lelievre and the late Robert Lelievre. He was raised in Westford, MA, and attended Nashoba Technical High School where he studied plumbing and heating. Ray graduated in 1975 with aspirations of owning his own plumbing company.

Ray settled in Pepperell, Massachusetts, later moving to Townsend, then Littleton. He owned and operated a successful plumbing business in Pepperell, serving Massachusetts and New Hampshire for over forty years. His work was well respected, and he was known to be fair. Ray was a hard worker and put in more hours by ten am than most people did in an entire day. Ray was proud of his work and expected nothing less than the best from himself and anyone who worked for him. Ray helped others, doing what he could, whenever he could, to help those in need. In recent years, he transitioned from owner to employee at his son’s plumbing business, encouraging and supporting the next generation of Lelievre plumbing. 

Ray enjoyed life. From scuba diving in the tropics to snow-covered trails in a snowmobile, Ray loved the outdoors and a good adventure with friends and family by his side. Family truly brought him happiness; be it game night, playing cards, or watching hockey. Ray was a lifelong Montreal Canadiens hockey fan, and grew up playing hockey, first on a pond, then a rink. Ray was an outstanding skater and player. His brothers may disagree, but he was arguably the best in the family. His skating skills are still the talk of old friends. As team captain his senior year at Nashoba Tech, he was the top scorer in a game, an unbelievable six goals, a record which still stands to this day. For Ray, the only thing better than playing hockey was watching his sons and grandsons play. A highlight was watching his twins play at the Fleet Center during their senior year. In the fall, Ray could be found on the football field sidelines cheering on his youngest son. Hockey, or football, Ray spent many hours coaching, watching, and cheering on his boys. Family was everything to Ray, his purpose, pride, and joy.

Ray is survived by his wife, Bethanne (Levesque) Lelievre. of Littleton, MA; his children Alex Lelievre of Amesbury, MA, Jesse Lelievre and his wife Kate of North Andover, MA, and Anthony Lelievre of Littleton, MA; his grandchildren Emma, Max, Londyn, and Jay; stepchildren Jonathan Tanguay, Jennifer (Tanguay) Gamache and her husband Nick, and Jacob Ovaska; his mother Gemma (Breau) Lelievre; and his siblings Denise Tully and her husband Michael, Robert Lelievre and his wife Judy, Sheila Black and her husband John, Thomas Lelievre and his wife Natalie, Michael Lelievre, David Lelievre and his wife Kristen; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his father Robert Lelievre and a brother Dennis Lelievre.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Ray on Thursday, January 4th, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 PM, at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 12:00 PM. A burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, Littleton.
