Ray was the son of the late Raymond and Mary Ellen (Lee) Lennon. He was born on July 26, 1929 in Derby. Ray cherished his days growing up in Beacon Falls. He loved sharing fond memories of his childhood, including taking the train to New York City with friends at the age of 10 and spending entire days playing in the woods. Ray volunteered at the St. Francis Church Fair for many years and coached swimming at the YMCA. He founded the Wednesday Morning Golf League and re-established the Junior Golf League, both at the Hop Brook Golf Course. He played cribbage in the Marty's Corner Cribbage League and at the Elks Club. He enjoyed playing golf on Sunday with his son Ray, grandson Jeremy, and friend Jim DaSilva. He looked forward to Thursday night card games with his friends and son-in-law Ace. Evening dinners at his daughter Pat's home and daughter-in-law Lin's home were special to him.
Ray is survived by his son Ray Jr. and his wife Lin; his daughters, Patricia Timoteo and Kelly Nolan; his brother Lee (Karen); sister Marion Zollo (Albert) and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his grandchildren Jeremy Lennon (Jill), Jessica Lennon Quiles (Jay), Rachel Timoteo Koerner (Michael), Elizabeth Timoteo Kurimai (Matthew), Steven Behlman (Alayna) and Erin Gonzalez (Christian) and great-grandchildren Briana and Gia Lennon, Jamie and Julia Quiles, Michael and Nora Koerner, Charlotte and James Kurimai, Aria, Ford and Grant Behlman, and David Elwell and Carter Gonzalez. Ray is predeceased by his son-in-law, Asencio Timoteo; brothers William, Harold, John, Clarence (Shanny); sisters Ann, Mary Ellen Kingsley, Florence Bunnel, and Bonnie McMinn and great-granddaughter Grace Koerner.
Ray's family would like to thank his caretakers at Complete Care at Middlebury and Accent Hospice for their attention and kindness. To his longtime golfing partners, remember him the next time you are enjoying a round on a beautiful day. To his acquaintances at The Coffee Shoppe, remember his fondness of the many entertaining conversations while enjoying a good breakfast. To all who knew Ray, we ask that you take a moment to remember him for his greeting smile, generosity, and willingness to give a helping hand whenever he was asked.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Hop Brook Special Fund (c/o Jeremy Lennon, NPW, 246 Rubber Ave., Naugatuck, CT 06770) to honor his love of golf.
