Raymond Russell (Russ) Maltby, age 88, was born on January 7, 1937, and passed away on December 31, 2025. He was the beloved son of Raymond Adla Maltby and Ella Mars Rhodes Maltby.
Russ served his country in the Army and was stationed in Korea from 1960 to 1961. In 1962, he married Elaine Hogan in the Logan LDS Temple, with whom he had three sons before they later divorced. He also married Marta Minchey and Hazel Howarth, both of whom predeceased him.
Throughout his career, Russ worked for various companies, including Ogden Ironworks, Pacific Chromolox, and Cook Roofing. He spent a significant portion of his life as a dedicated Ogden City Fireman for 24 years. One of his cherished roles was as the caretaker at the Manor Lands summer homes in the Uinta Mountains, where he found great joy in the outdoors.
A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Russ treasured his time spent in nature, engaging in activities such as camping, fishing, and four-wheeling with friends. He loved driving his truck to remote locations, relishing the beauty of varied landscapes.
Russ is survived by his brother Tod Maltby of Ogden, Utah, along with his three sons: Brent (Trudy) Maltby of Harrisville, Utah; Scott (Lori) Maltby of Tremonton, Utah; and David (Tracy) Maltby of North Ogden, Utah. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, who will fondly remember their time with him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ella Maltby, and his sister Ella Charmaine McFarland. In accordance with his wishes, Russ will be cremated.
His family and friends will remember Russ for his kind spirit and the memories they shared, celebrating a life rich in love, adventure, and service to others.
