Bailey, Virginia Shirmer "Ginny"
Jan. 12, 1920 - Feb. 12, 2013
Virginia "Ginny" Shirmer Bailey, age 93, died on Tuesday, February 12th at the Sarasota Hospice Center in Sarasota, Florida. A native of Cuylerville, New York, Ginny also lived in Geneseo and Rochester, New York, and Eatontown, New Jersey, before moving to Nokomis, Florida, in 1985. She had a long career with the Rochester Telephone Company and, upon retirement, became an "Avon Lady", a job that she continued until her death. Ginny was a deeply religious woman who was active with the Spanish Lakes Covenant Church where she served on many boards and committees and was a stalwart member of the congregation. Ginny was predeceased by her husband, Willis "Bill" Bailey in December 1999. She is survived by a son, Guy Bailey, his wife, Kathy King, and their son, Andrew, all of Stamford, Connecticut, in addition to a brother, Jack Schirmer of Mount Morris, a sister, Helen Bennett of Geneseo, and a niece and numerous nephews. She will also be missed by her friend and companion, Robert Bansky of Nokomis. A memorial service will be held at the Spanish Lakes Covenant Church on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 4 pm. There will also be a gathering in Geneseo of relatives and friends to celebrate Ginny's life at a date to be determined. Memorial donations may be made to Spanish Lakes Covenant Church, 1340 Tamiami Trail N, Nokomis, Florida 34275, attention of Reverend Washburn.
