Raymond Elwood McDaniel, 90, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 27, 2025 at UK-St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
He was born on August 10, 1934 in Elliott County, Kentucky, a son of the late Arnold Raymond McDaniel and Ann Skaggs McDaniel.
Raymond was a retired machinist for General Motors and was a member of the Morehead First Free Will Baptist Church.
He enjoyed woodworking, reading his Bible, genealogy, taking care of his yard, and most of all, spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy Harden, two brothers, Gary McDaniel and Luther “Frank” McDaniel and two sisters, Betty Catron and Alletha Cornett.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mary Jane Thompson McDaniel, two sons, Gary McDaniel (Joan) of Versailles, Kentucky and Timothy McDaniel (Kim) of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, one daughter, Carrie McDaniel of Morehead, one sister, Alfreda Mullins of Belleville, Michigan, seventeen grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 1, 2025 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Pastor Joey Damron officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fleming County Cemetery in Flemingsburg, Kentucky.
Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Austin Barker, Skylar Haddix, Tyrell Jones, Trevin Jones, Jason Harden, Derrick Harden, Brent Harden, Gary McDaniel, Ethan McDaniel and Mikeal Funchion..
