Raymond Miller Obituary

Raymond L. Miller, 66, of Dunn Station, Prosperity, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born April 21, 1959, he was the son of the late Anna Miller and Gaylord Miller, and stepson of the late Martha Miller. Ray was the beloved husband of 44 years to his high school sweetheart, Lynne Miller. Together they built a beautiful life and family. He was the devoted father of Ean (Carla) Miller, Andrew (Lauren) Miller, and Emilie (Jaleel Spencer) Miller; cherished grandpa of Lawson, Liam, Theo, Benjamin, and one grandchild joyfully expected. He leaves behind his siblings, Robert (Jana) Roberts and Ruth Davis; and was the dear brother-in-law of Jill Miller. Ray is also survived by many nieces and nephews, who adored him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Miller and Richard Bell; and his sisters, Lois Jean Davis and Linda Davis. Ray met Lynne while attending McGuffey High School, and shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Following their marriage, he proudly served his country and was stationed in Japan, where he developed a lifelong appreciation for martial arts. Upon returning to the United States, Ray and Lynne started their family and settled into a life filled with love, hard work, and deep devotion to one another. Ray enjoyed a long and meaningful career in healthcare IT, where he was known for his dedication, kindness, and strong work ethic. After over 30 years in IT field, he began working at Trinity School District, where he retired at 65. Trinity was a place where he found great joy in his work and in the relationships he built there. Ray found his greatest joy on the farm enjoying the land, the peaceful countryside, and spending time with his family and his beloved dogs, especially Gunner. Ray was also an avid fly fisherman, finding serenity in the water and the rhythm of the cast. He had a deep love of reading, often finding comfort and peace in a good book. His presence brought warmth, strength, and quiet wisdom to all who knew him. Ray will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his gentle spirit, and the pride he took in serving his country. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love him. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, McMurray.

My Uncle Ray was a good man. He was also a Cool Uncle. I was 8 years old when the "Karate Kid" came out. When my friends and I would talk about the movie, I definitely mentioned to my friends, that "my Uncle is a 9th degree black belt in karate and a bunch of other ones."
That was pretty cool. It was also pretty cool when Uncle Ray was explaining to myself and several of my cousins, the importance of bowing in karate. I asked "but what if" and then we bowed, and I jumped at him as though I was going to kick him. The next thing I remember was completely flipping backwards. After my landing, Ray calmly said: "That´s what happens."
I will miss our late nights on the porch. Looking over the yard that carries so many wonderful memories. Love you Uncle Ray. You left us too soon. I´m sure Old Gunner ran up yelping and shaking with excitement.
