Mr. Raymond A. Pageau, of Waltham, died at home on Saturday, November 9, 2025. He was 83.
Ray was born in Concord on May 8, 1942, a son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Roy) Pageau. Raised in Concord, he played football at Concord Carlisle High School and remained a lifelong fan of the game.
He served honorably in the United States Air Force as an aircraft and missile mechanic. After his service, he studied at East Coast Aerotech vocational school at Hanscom Air Force Base and went on to work as an aircraft mechanic for Eastern Airlines and US Airways at Logan Airport. On October 17, 1972, he married Marjorie McShane. The couple shared a love of travel, from nights out at local casinos to trips to Las Vegas, and especially enjoyed taking cruises together.
Ray was a natural, people person; friendly, generous, and always ready to strike up a conversation. He made friends easily and kept them for life. His interests were wide-ranging: he loved planes, military history, and the enduring mysteries of the universe, particularly unidentified aerial phenomena.
Ray leaves his children, Lawrence Pageau of Waltham and Lisa Scannell (Kevin) of Brockton; his grandchildren, Nicholas and Samantha; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and their families.
He was the brother of the late Diane Grennan.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ray’s life by gathering for an Evening Wake on Tuesday, November 18th from 4 to 7 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham where his funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be private.
