Raymond John "Sharkey" Pannhoff

1932 - 2021

Raymond John "Sharkey" Pannhoff, 89 of Clear Lake, died Friday, December 31, 2021 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 6, 2022, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1001 9th Ave. S., Clear Lake, with Rev. Josh Link officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave. N., Clear Lake. A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m. immediately followed by a Scriptural Wake Service.
Sharkey was born March 26, 1932, the son of John and Anna (Heginger) Pannhoff in Klemme, IA. He married Lorena "Tootsie" Thome on July 31, 1954, in Stacyville, IA.
Sharkey grew up and attended school in Klemme. He began working for the ASC in Garner and surrounding areas. He started farming in Ventura in 1965 on the south side of the lake, where the family remained for 50 years until he retired. He and Tootsie moved into Clear Lake in 2018.
Sharkey was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Clear Lake and a Third-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7898 in Clear Lake. He enjoyed woodworking, quilting and had a passion for playing horseshoes. Over the years he participated in many tournaments and even competed at the World Horseshoe Tournament a few times. More than anything he loved his family and cherished his time spent with them.
Sharkey is survived by his wife, Lorena of Clear Lake; children, Nancy (Creighton) Roethler of Brooklyn, IA, Donald (Lisa) Pannhoff of Marshfield, WI and Joseph (Charlotte) Pannhoff of Garner, IA; grandchildren, Kelly (Jeff) Sukley, Audrey (Ahren Lehner) Mullaney, Ryan (Michelle) Pannhoff, Adam (Jessica) Pannhoff, Joshua Drewelow, Jordan Drewelow and Abigail Pannhoff; great-grandchildren, Meg Sukley, Leah Sukley, Parker Sukley and Aiden Pannhoff; sister, Mary Clark; and sisters-in-law, Marlene (Larry) Kester and Ruth Pannhoff.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth (Frances), Merle, Dean (Beulah) and Lyle Pannhoff; and sister, Arlene (Roy) Lovik.
