Raymond Saggio, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on May 13, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on September 7, 1946 in Dennison, OH, Ray lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family.
Ray had a fulfilling career, retiring from Nationwide Insurance after 30 years. His work ethic and loyalty were remarkable, attributes that mirrored his character. Alongside his professional achievements, he proudly served in the Vietnam War as a Crew Chief in the Army from 1966 to 1968. This experience contributed to making him a man of strong faith, which he held through many health struggles.
He is remembered for his witty humor, charisma, kindness, and intelligence. Ray loved sharing his interests with those around him. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame football, the Cleveland Browns, and the Boston Celtics. Additionally, he enjoyed playing golf, a pastime that brought him joy and relaxation.
Above all, Ray treasured his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Becky Saggio; sons, Jason (Nikol) Hackett and Jeff (Sarah) Hackett; and his cherished grandchildren, Riley, Cooper, Finley, Charlee, and Owen Hackett. He is also survived by his brother, Robert (Janice) Saggio; sisters-in-law, Debbie (Jon) Phillips, Laurie (Doug) Whitley, Jenny (Timmy) McAndrew; and brother-in-law, Ron (Jill) Vogel, along with numerous nieces and nephews who adored him.
Ray was predeceased by his father, Christmas "Chris" Saggio; mother, Victoria Saggio; brothers, Louis (Gloria) Saggio, Anthony "Tony" (Polly) Saggio, and Chris Saggio Jr.; mother-in-law, Nancy Manes; father-in-law, Bud Manes; and brother-in-law, Michael Vogel.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at St. Margaret of Cortona, 1600 N Hague Ave, Columbus, OH 43204, beginning at 10:00 AM. A private interment with the family will be held at a later time at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lockbourne, OH.
Ray's legacy will forever be marked by his unwavering love and selflessness for his family and his ability to bring joy to those around him. He will be missed dearly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ray's memory to St. Margaret of Cortona.
