Mr. Raymond Lawrence Smith, age 64 of Rockwood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6th, 2025. He was born on November 18th, 1960, in West Virginia. He was a devoted and loving husband for over 45 years to Carolyn, the love of his life. He retired after years of working as an operator for the West Virginia Highway Department. He was an avid outdoorsman when he was able who always enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being outside. He is preceded in death by his parents: Robert Smith and Delia Bailey Smith; son: Raymond Lawrence Smith Jr; and sister: Patricia Carter. He is survived by:
Wife of 45+ years: Carolyn Smith
Sons: Justin Smith, Ryan Smith, and Bryan Smith
Grandchildren: Kourtney, Lila, Breanna, Akasha, Ryder, Justin Jr, and Rayleigh Smith
Great Grandchildren: Avianah Thompson and Ja'Kobe Thompson
Sister: Yvonne Thompson
Brother: Richard Smith
and a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 10th, 2025, from 3:00-4:00 pm ET at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood. A celebration of life service will follow with Bro. Chris Blair officiating. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mr. Raymond Lawrence Smith.
