Glenville- Raymond J. Thimineur, 92, passed into the next life on November 14, 2025. He was born April 3, 1933 to the late Anna Grace LaRocco Thimineur and Raymond J. Thimineur Sr.
Being a depression-era child, Ray learned the value of a dollar. In his early years, Ray was involved in sports, namely lettering in track and field. He and his father, Raymond Sr., used to race homing pigeons, and received rewards from their exploits.
Raymond went to Union College after graduating from Mt. Pleasant High School, where he studied Chemistry. Upon graduation, Ray became employed with The General Electric Company. His career took him to Indiana, Pittsfield, MA, and eventually Waterford, NY. He was employed for 37 years. It was while at Waterford, that Ray and his wife Virginia made their home in Glenville, NY and raised a family. Throughout a distinguished career, Ray earned 28 patents in the wax and polish industries.
In his leisure time, Ray was an avid boater, and world traveler. He owned several boats, but none more important than "The Classy Lady", named after his wife Virginia. Their world travels took them to exotic places, with their favorites being Australia and New Zealand.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Virginia Millett Thimineur; his four sons, Dean M. Thimineur (Kelly) of Malta, NY, Mark A. Thimineur (Marlo) of Derby, CT, Jeffrey A. Thimineur of Florida, and Scott R. Thimineur (Katie) of Ballston Spa, NY; his nephew, John Reilly; his grandchildren, Bradley J. Thimineur (Christy), Alisha J. Novak (Ryan), Jennifer L. Thimineur, Lindsay Thimineur, Leah Thimineur, Jamie Thimineur, and Alex Thimineur; and several great-grandchildren, Kayley, Kezia, Kayden, Charlotte, Landon, and Alyssa. Raymond is predeceased by his sister, Joan Reilly; brother-in-law, John Reilly; niece Anne Reilly; and nephew Joel Reilly.
Services for Raymond will include a visitation Wednesday, November 19 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Light's Funeral Home, 1428 State St Schenectady, NY, and a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, November 20 at The Church of Immaculate Conception in Glenville at 10 AM. How sorry we are about Raymond's passing. He and Ginny were our neighbors across Willow Lane for 45 years. Ray and Ginny introduced us to the beauty of Lake George decades ago which prompted my family to boat on Lake George beginning in 1986 to the present. Ray and Ginny took meticulous care of their property and Raymond always had an interesting story to tell about his work and travels and how proud he was of his sons. We will always have fond memories of Raymond and wish the warmest regards to his family.
