Raymond C. Woods, age 88, passed away on September 12th, 2025. Raymond Chester Woods, was born June 2nd, 1937, in Knox Co, KY. Worked in coal mines at various jobs off and on from age 11. Drove a coal truck at age 13. Moved to Cincinnati, OH area in 1955 at age 17 to work as a bricklayer. He married Nellie Mae Fetters-born August 3rd, 1941, now divorced (3 children). Worked as self-employed brick contractor in Northern Kentucky until retirement in 2002 at age 65. Member of NKY Homebuilders Association. Worked on committee to start first YMCA branch in Independence, KY in 1978. Avid golfer; scored a hole-in-one in 1976.
Raymond is survived by his daughters Anita “Woods” Kinney (Spouse Bill Kinney) and Charlotte “Woods” Janusik (Spouse John Janusik), his brother Walter Lessley “Junior” Woods, Grandchildren J.R. Janusik (Spouse Sara Janusik), Ronnie Neises, Jason Neises (Spouse Hannah Neises), Bobby Greenwell (Spouse Cara Greenwell), and Ray Greenwell, and 7 Greatgrandchildren- Theo Neises, Jameson Greenwell, Harrison Greenwell, Lexington Greenwell, Isabella Greenwell, and Vivienne Greenwell.
Ray is preceded in death by his daughter Toni “Woods” Brewer (Spouse Bill Brewer), Parents Walter Lessley Woods and Mallie Mae Steele Woods, siblings Elmer “Boots” Woods, Dot Woods, Arville Howard “Jack” Woods, Iva Woods, Harold Woods, Edith Killa Woods, Herman Woods, Willis Woods, and Eulene (Elaine) Woods.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 20th, 2025 from 12-2pm at Middendorf Funeral Home, 3312 Madison Pike, Ft. Wright, KY 41017. Internment will be at Candle Ridge cemetery in Gray, KY on Monday, September 22nd at 1pm.
