ESPINOZA

Raymundo P Espinoza, age 84, passed away October 25, 2025 following a battle with lung cancer. He was born January 6, 1941 in Freer, TX, the oldest of eight siblings, to parents Manuel and Francisca Espinoza. Ray moved to Wyoming, MI in 1963 and worked as a Tool & Die Maker for General Motors for over thirty years and retired in 1998. He enjoyed spending time with family, dancing, and any social gathering. After retirement, Ray and his late wife Nita returned to Benavides, TX where he remained until his passing. He was a devoted volunteer at Christus Spohn Hospital in Alice, TX. Ray will be remembered fondly as a loving, funny, boisterous, and generous father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Nita Nora Espinoza; his parents, Manuel and Francisca Espinoza; granddaughter, Amanda Rae Espinoza; great-grandson, Weston Cole Grine; siblings, Rudolfo Espinoza, Rafael Espinoza, San Juanita Salinas, Ruben Espinoza, Melba Villarreal, and Juan Manuel Espinoza; and many cherished friends and relatives.

Ray is survived by his children, Nelia Cowham (Greg Cowham) of Alto, MI, Raul Espinoza of Middleville, MI, Selina Stahl of Middleville, MI, and Richard Espinoza (Suzanne Espinoza) of Chandler, AZ; sister, Lesbia Villarreal, grandchildren Nicole (Stahl) Grine, Scott Cowham, Nathan Stahl, Alison (Cowham) Mulder, Emma Espinoza, Sean Espinoza, and Jacob Espinoza; great-grandchildren Wyatt and Gabriella Grine, Shia and Spencer Cowham, and Jordan and Ezekiel Stahl; significant other of 9 years, Margarita Longoria; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Rosary and Celebration of Life to began at 6:00 p.m. that evening. Services will conclude that evening.

His ashes will return to Grand Rapids, MI to be buried beside his late wife at a date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Volunteers of CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Alice - High School Scholarship Fund. All contributions made in Ray's name will be earmarked for a scholarship fund for junior volunteers at Christus Spohn pursuing secondary education in healthcare fields after high school.
