Papa was a good Papa.

Ray was one of my oldest friends. We met as classmates at JHS 44 in the Bronx and we both became journalists. Ray was with the Associated Press for more than four decades. A gifted writer, a perceptive reporter, a loving family man. More than that, he was one of the kindest, sweet-natured people I have ever known, a dear friend and a true mensch. I am so sorry he is gone, and so thankful that I was his friend for so many years.
