Reba Litie Gray Chance Barbee, 96, of Albemarle, passed away Monday, May 1, 2023, at Spring Arbor of Albemarle.
Reba was born December 2, 1926, in Stanly County, North Carolina to the late John Chance and the late Londa Barringer Chance.
She was also preceded in death by husband, James Lester Barbee, Jr.; sisters, Hazel Chance, Nora Russell, Odessa Aldridge, Mary Almond, and Helen Lowder; brothers, Elmon Chance, Royce Chance, Henry Chance, Robert Chance, Pete Chance and Edward Chance.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle. Burial will follow at the Stanly Gardens of Memory at 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.
Survivors include children, James "Jim" Lester Barbee, III (Sherry), Jane B. Huneycutt (Roger), and Christopher "Chris" Barbee (Wendy); 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Reba was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She worked in the textile industry for many years and her biggest hobby was making crafts and creating artwork, but enjoyed spending time with her family more than any other activity.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Hospice of Stanly and the caring staff at Spring Arbor for their outstanding care and compassion for Reba, especially special nurse and friend Andrea... "Love you more."
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharrie, 960 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001
