Rebecca Gens, our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on December 6, 2024.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 1:00 PM at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. The Rev. Jared Houze will preside. Inurnment will follow at Llano Cemetery.
Rebecca Gens was born to Stephen and Fredricka Gens on November 6, 1959. She grew up in Newton, MA, and Centerville, MA, with her brother, Mark Gens. Rebecca married Jeffrey Bunce in 1978 and had two children, Matthew and Hillary. She dedicated her entire life to her family. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her universe and brought her the greatest joy.
Rebecca was fiercely independent. She battled multiple illnesses simultaneously and still demanded to live life on her own terms. She will be known for her selflessness, compassion, and devotion.
Rebecca was a member of Saint Andrews Episcopal Church and Daughters of the King. Her faith in God sustained her, and her church family was important to her.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her son, Matthew Gens Kim, and his husband, JongHun Kim, of Hardwick, MA; her daughter, Hillary (Bunce) Green and her husband, Peter Green of Amarillo; her two grandchildren, James Bunce of Lansing. MI and Lillian Bunce-Green of Amarillo, TX; her brother Mark Gens of Brooklyn, NY; her best friend Dianne Sagan of Amarillo, TX; and her cherished dog and companion Jack.
