Rebecca Gillham Obituary

Published by Legacy from Oct. 1 to Oct. 7, 2025.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rebecca May Gillham, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us peacefully on September 25, 2025, in Springfield, MO. Born on January 2, 1944, in Saint Joseph, MO, to Joseph and Dolly (Wilson) Merrill. Rebecca spent her life as a devoted caregiver, always ready to lend a hand or provide a listening ear to anyone in need. Her compassionate nature and unwavering dedication to her loved ones were hallmarks of her remarkable spirit.
Rebecca was a cherished daughter of God and found immense joy in her faith at Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she nurtured her connection with the community and inspired many with her kindness and vitality. Friends and family will fondly remember her unique personality, spunky attitude, and infectious laughter that could light up any room.
She was welcomed into heaven by her husband Arthur Gillham, daughters Jeanette Childers and Libby Fisher, 10 siblings and mother-in-law and special friend, Goldie McDowell.
Rebecca leaves behind her loving family, including her daughters Linda Allie, Beverly Small (Mark) and Diane Shivers (Jeff); her son Lee McDowell; and her brother Jim Merrill (Julia) as well as 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit in their hearts, reminding us of all of her selflessness and love.
Those who knew Rebecca will gather to celebrate her vibrant life and honor her legacy on Thursday, October 2, 2025, with a visitation from 1:00-2:00 pm and a funeral service following at 2:00 pm in Greenlawn Funeral Home, North. She will be buried at White Chapel Memorial Gardens following the service. We invite all friends and family to join us in a heartfelt farewell, sharing stories and memories that reflect the joy she brought to all our lives.
In this time of sorrow, let us also remember to celebrate the gift of Rebecca's life, cherishing the beautiful moments we shared together. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the love and kindness she bestowed upon the world.
