Rebecca Claire Huber, age 29, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, six weeks after the loss of her beloved husband, Mason.
Rebecca was born on November 4,1995 in Rockville, Maryland to Scott and Judy Huber. She grew up in Columbia, Maryland alongside her sisters Sarah and Rachel.
From a young age, Rebecca displayed a caring nature, precocious intellect, and natural curiosity. She was the creative mind behind the vibrant childhood she and her sisters shared, directing elaborate plays, re-enacting their favorite movie scenes, and playing horses in the front yard using jump ropes as reigns. She loved to experiment with her artistic abilities, generously giving away her creations to those who would appreciate them the most. Rebecca also spent nearly a decade swimming for the CHS Sundevils, culminating in two treasured seasons as "Coach Becca" in the summers of 2014 and 2015. In the off-season, she trained with coach and mentor, Andy Zitnay. Rebecca's love for art, swimming, and swim instruction continued into adulthood.
Rebecca excelled academically at every level, reading extensively and always eager to expand her understanding of the world. Following her graduation from Mount de Sales Academy in 2014, she attended the University of Notre Dame where she studied Mechanical Engineering. While there, she decided to add a Studio Art minor, using the many hours spent in the art department as a reprieve from the rigor of her coursework. Prior to her Junior year, she traveled to Beijing to participate in a joint engineering program between Notre Dame and Tsinghua University. Upon graduation, Rebecca worked as a design engineer for Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan and most recently for SRAM Bicycle Corporation in Chicago, Illinois.
Most importantly, Rebecca's time at Notre Dame brought her the love of her life, Mason Anderson, her partner of nine years. Following their graduation in 2018, they entered a period of career-related long distance, logging countless miles to spend precious weekend days with one another. Their persistence paid off when Mason joined Rebecca in the Detroit area, where he would propose. A subsequent move to Chicago in 2023 set the stage for a legendary wedding shared with close friends and family. Inviting their friends to a bachelor and bachelorette weekend, the couple astonished their guests by getting married instead.
Rebecca's years with Mason were the best of her life. Those who knew the couple could never tell which one adored the other more. Throughout their relationship, they embodied living life to the fullest, eagerly planning their next adventure, and always prioritizing time spent in the company of their family and friends. The love that they shared with each other and with those around them will be deeply missed.
Rebecca is survived by her parents Scott and Judy Huber; sisters Rachel Huber and Sarah Nachtegall (Jim); nieces Anna and Avila Nachtegall; grandparents Irene Shelton and John Luciani; mother-in-law and father-in law Beth Rohlik (Brian) and Michael Anderson (Kris), brother-in-law Maxwell Anderson (Courtney), sisters-in-law Emily Anderson (Riley) and Sophie Anderson (Cooper); and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her husband, Mason Anderson, and grandparents William Shelton, Ruth Ann Luciani, and J. Milton Huber.
A visitation will be held in remembrance of Rebecca on Sunday, November 16 from 1-3pm and 5-7pm at Donaldson Funeral Home, 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029.
A funeral Mass will take place on Monday, November 17 at 10am at St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, 12500 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029.
