Bradenton, Florida - On October 30, 2024, Rebecca Sherrill Linton of Bradenton, FL passed away at the age of 86. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dr. William Robert Linton Jr.; their three sons, William III of St. Petersburg, FL, John (Julie) of Lutz, FL and David (Danielle) of St. Petersburg, FL; four grandchildren, Graham Linton, Will Linton, Elizabeth Linton and Sarah Linton; sister Jane Dudan of Singer Island, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Preston Sherrill and Norma Sherrill Hackney of Lake City, FL and sister Linda Lee of Live Oak, FL.

Becky was born July 18, 1938 in Lake City, FL. She attended Columbia High School, The University of Alabama and Florida State University. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Following college, she was the secretary to Dean George Harrell at the University of Florida College of Medicine where she met her future husband, a first year medical student. They were married April 14, 1962. In the following years, they lived in Gainesville, FL, Baltimore, MD and Wichita, KS for Dr. Linton's medical training and military service before settling in Bradenton, FL in 1970.

Becky was a lifelong member of many civic and social groups. She and her family traveled widely making lasting friendships over the years. She was known for creating beautiful tablescapes and arrangements, but will be most remembered by her beautiful handwritten letters and illustrated cards, which have been kept and treasured by many over the years. Becky had a wonderful sense of humor, loved socializing with family and friends and kept in close contact with those near and far.

The family is deeply thankful to the staff at Sunny Bower Assisted Living Facility and the Bradenton Tidewell Hospice.

A memorial visitation will be held at Brown & Sons Funeral Home 43rd St Chapel, 604 43rd St W, Bradenton, FL 34209 on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to the Thornwell organization in Clinton, SC (thornwell.org).
