Rebecca Naomi Palmer, 21, of Marietta, Georgia, died Monday, February 23, 2026. She was born on February 2, 2005, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Rebecca Elaine Dasher and John A.B. Palmer, Jr.
A proud honors graduate of Walton High School in 2023, Rebecca continued her studies in The Honors College at Lander University and then at the University of Georgia, where she was a junior. Rebecca loved playing rugby and played for the Lady Rebels and Valkyries in high school and for Lander University and UGA in college. Rebecca was also a gifted musician; she played trombone in the Symphonic Band and jazz band at Walton and marched trombone and baritone in the Walton Raider Marching Band. She also played in the Lander University jazz band.
Becca loved baking and painting. She loved animals, especially her pets: Bubba, Snoopy, Sox, and her recent rescue, Charlie. She was loyal and compassionate and loved helping others. Rebecca’s spirit and passion touched the hearts of many, and her memory will forever be cherished by family, friends, and fellow students.
She is survived by her parents and her brother Jack Palmer; by her grandmother Marty Palmer; her aunts, Cathy, Christina, Heather, Holly, and Katie and her uncles, Anthony, David, and Joe; her cousins, Joshua, Addison, Ryan, Caroline, and Lindsey; and by numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Lowell and Naomi Dasher and John A. B. Palmer.
A family memorial will be held at a later date on Edisto Island, perhaps Becca’s favorite place in the world, where she enjoyed shrimping with her Great Uncle Jay and hearing family stories from her Great Aunt Ann.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to organizations that were important to Becca: The Greenwood Promise, a non-profit organization where Becca interned in the fall, or the Athens Area Humane Society. Donations in her memory can be made on their websites:
