Rebecca E. Vail

1943 - 2025

Rebecca E. Vail, 81 of Lenox, formerly of Pittsfield, passed away September 21, 2025 at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center.

Born in Jesup, Georgia on December 25, 1943, she was the daughter of Joel Eason and Beatrice Joyner Menifee. She was educated in Savannah, Georgia schools. She married Bobby Vail on July 1, 1963. He predeceased her on October 8, 2005.

Mrs. Vail was a Teacher's Aide for Redfield House Infant/Toddler Center, and also Redfield House Teen Parent Program Floor Supervisor from 1995 until her retirement in 2008. While living in Georgia, she was employed as a cook at Screven Elementary School and Screven Sportswear in Screven, GA

Mrs. Vail was a member of the former Reigning Love Church, where she was a Deaconess and Usher. She enjoyed fishing and reading.

She is survived by her son, Stanley E. Vail of Pittsfield. Three daughters, Connie Eason Scott of Hinsdale, Sonya Vail Cook of Pittsfield, and Lavette Vail of Pittsfield. A sister, Elizabeth Wright of Pittsfield. Three grandchildren, Shavonn Melendez, Mikki Adams, and Taknoah Stevens and three great-grandchildren, Cristian Melendez, Isaiah Stevens and Miguel Adams. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Joel Eason, Jr. and Sylvester Eason and two sisters, Helen Ford and Corrine Eason and great-granddaughter, Abigail Rebecca Melendez.

The family would like to thank Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center and HospiceCare in the Berkshires for their compassionate care.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours will be held, Monday, September 29, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield. Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Price Memorial AME Zion Church, 27 East St., Pittsfield. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery.
