With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rebecca Ann Worthington, age 79, on February 12, 2025, at Portia Caeli House in Tulsa, Oklahoma, surrounded by her loving family.
Becky was born to Josephine and Chester Whitmire on July 25, 1945, in Tahlequah Hastings, Oklahoma. She grew up in Nowata, Oklahoma, and graduated from Nowata High School.
She dedicated over 40 years to hospital administration, where she helped ensure people could access the care they needed.
In 1963, Becky married Paul Howard Worthington, and together, they shared a life filled with laughter and love before he left this life in 1968. She was a devoted mother, filling the role of mom and dad for their son, Mark Worthington. She was a proud grandmother to two granddaughters, Becca Worthington and Josie Pascoe, who adored her.
Becky was an accomplished basket weaver, an avid gardener, and a fantastic cook. She was an active member of Tulsa Indian United Methodist Church and attended Boston Avenue United Methodist Church later in life. She was always present for her family and friends. Her compassion, wisdom, and unwavering support touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Josephine Whitmire-Chaney and Chester Whitmire; her siblings Agnes Chaney, Sonny Whitmire, Polly Dacy, Wynona Hogner, husband Paul Worthington; grandchildren Sage and Kaitlyn Worthington, and great-grandchild Miles Pascoe.
She is survived by her son, daughter-in-law, granddaughters, sisters, and many dear friends and family members who will cherish her memory forever.
A celebration of Becky's life will be held on Sunday, February 16, at 3:00 PM at Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Porta Caeli House in her memory.
