Red Jackson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Kennedy Mortuary & Crematory - Laurens on Dec. 25, 2025.
Milford Guy "Red" Jackson, 86, of Laurens, and husband of Margaret E. Barton Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community.
Born in Laurens on April 26, 1939, he was a son of the late Thomas Wesley Jackson, Sr. and Ada Ophelia Benjamin Jackson. Growing up in the 1940's, Red faced and overcame the challenges of poverty, becoming a provider for his family. A veteran of the US Army, Red was stationed at West Point where he served as a carpenter and was influential in creating higher quality target practice. While in New York, he also spent time working as a ticket master. Red was a former manager for Piggs II Red & White grocery story and retired as a truck driver for Pet Milk. He was an avid gardener and loved to grow and sell tomatoes. When he wasn't in his garden, he was out on the water fishing, boating, and skiing. Red was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Laurens.
In addition to his loving wife, Red is survived by his children, Vince Guy Jackson (Peggy), and Jill Jackson Bost (Jon); grandchildren, Kasey Jackson Ellison (Chris), Kelsey Jackson Lane (Kyle), and Matthew Jackson; great grandchildren, Raelyn, Coleman, Berkley, Brenley, and Becklyn; as well as his special dog, "Bo."
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Mary Carolyn Jackson Price, Tom Jackson, William "Bill" Wesley Jackson, Jr, Benjamin Joe Jackson, Annie Jackson Kannee, and Corrie Jackson Grether.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 29, 2025, at The Kennedy Mortuary from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by a service at 2:00 PM in The Kennedy Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Westview Memorial Park with Military Honors.
The family will be at the home.
