Reevah Sandra "Lesof" Simon

1939 - 2025

Reevah Simon, a cherished member of the Los Angeles community and a devoted social worker, passed away on April 10, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on January 23, 1939, in Boston, Massachusetts, Reevah embarked on a fulfilling career that began in administrative roles before she found her true calling in social work.

Reevah's career trajectory was marked by her desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others. Initially working as a secretary at TRW, her passion for helping people led her to pursue further education in social work. She served at Jewish Family Services and later joined L.A. County Mental Health, where she excelled as a therapist, mentor, and manager. Notably, Reevah was instrumental in training Social Work interns, sharing her extensive knowledge and therapy skills. Her career didn't end with retirement; she later became Executive Director of the "Back to Basics" Parenting Program. She was asked by L.A. Unified School District to teach her parenting program to parents and teachers. She continued to influence many through her innovative teaching methods, including a popular parenting YouTube video.

Beyond her professional life, Reevah was a lover of the arts and travel. She had a profound appreciation for Agatha Christie's works, enjoyed watching the "Midsummer Murders" series, and followed the British Royal Family's events closely. Her musical tastes ranged from Dean Martin to Patsy Cline and Rhythm and Blues. Reevah also found joy in visiting theaters, museums, and cinemas. Her passions extended to learning, sharing knowledge, protecting animals, and embracing life's experiences.

Reevah is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Joe; her sister, Rhona; nieces Marcy and Lori; and numerous cousins, relatives, friends, and her adorable dog, Gerty. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Etta; her second husband, Steve; and her beloved dogs, Poochy, Hunchy, Bruno, Hilda, Sammy, Rosie, Charlie, Teddy, and Mandy.

A service to honor Reevah was held on April 22, 2025, at Forest Lawn, Mt. Sinai. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to any animal rescue organization, a cause close to Reevah's heart. Her legacy of compassion, dedication, and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
