SMITH, Regina Murphy 88, passed away on September 29, 2009, in Bridgewater, NJ, after a long, happy and loving life. Born August 24, 1921, to Daniel Patrick and Catherine Mary Murphy in Buffalo, NY, Regina was predeceased by her brothers Vincent and Clement, and her sister Beatrice Killian. While volunteering for the USO, she met the love of her life, Arthur J. Smith, at the end of World War II. Married for 55 years before Arthur's departure, they raised seven children in Riverdale, NY; Centerville MA, and St Petersburg, FL. Regina is survived by her seven children: Catherine McQuillen of North Hampton, NH; Arthur of St Petersburg, FL; Regina Tegeler of Bridgewater, NJ; Mary Ellen Simpson of St Petersburg, FL; Daniel of Red Wing, MN; Michael of Atlanta, GA; and Gerard of Edina, MN. Together with her 20 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, they will all miss her loving touch and holy spirit. An inspiration to all she met, Regina will forever be remembered by her many friends and family as a woman of inspirational character. At St. Jude's Cathedral in St Petersburg, Regina served as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Women's Guild and a volunteer in the Shrine Shop. She also provided years of volunteer service to the St Petersburg Free Clinic. Regina's life will be celebrated on October 19, 2009 at a 9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude's Cathedral Chapel. Arrangements are being made by Brett Funeral Home (727-321-3321).
