Reginald Allen "Reggie" Oliver left this life and was made whole by God on Jan. 30, 2026, at Lawrence Hall Health and Rehabilitation in Walnut Ridge, with his siblings by his side.
Reggie was born Dec. 25, 1967, in Walnut Ridge, to Jerry and Sheila Oliver. Reggie was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend who was truly made special by God. Though his life was filled with challenges and health issues, it was also filled with love, joy and a spirit that touched everyone who knew him. In his early years, Reggie was full of boundless energy. He loved to run everywhere he went, flip light switches, and play with his wind-up music boxes and toy truck wheels, which he enjoyed up until the end. His laughter was contagious, and his joy was simple and pure. Reggie especially loved junk food – most of all, his Cheetos.
Reggie was from Strawberry, but lived much of his life at Jonesboro Human Development Center and Lawrence Hall Health and Rehabilitation, where he was deeply loved by everyone who cared for him. Anyone who met Reggie or spent time caring for him immediately fell in love with him.
Although Reggie was unable to speak, he communicated in ways that went far beyond words. You could often understand exactly what he was saying just by looking into his eyes. One of his mother's favorite moments was asking Reggie to tell her he loved her with his eyes – he would respond with a grin and a playful glance from those beautiful green eyes that spoke volumes.
As Reggie grew older and lost his ability to walk, his spirit remained strong. His life was not easy, but he faced every challenge with quiet strength and grace. Through it all, he continued to bring light, love and meaning to those around him.
Reggie is survived by his loving parents; his brother, Malcolm (Gina) Oliver; his sister, Shanna (Josh) Smith; and his sister-in-law, Becky (Greg) Foreman. He is also survived by his cherished nieces and nephews: Mickayla (Andrew) Lee, Makenna Oliver, Lannie Oliver, Lyndee Jo Smith, Payton Oliver, Talmadge Smith and Aiden Oliver, as well as his loving aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Chad Oliver; his niece, Camillia Kaylin Oliver; his paternal grandparents, Author and Noma Oliver; and his maternal grandparents, Roy and Erma Walker.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. at Penn Cemetery in Strawberry. A gathering of friends and family to remember and celebrate Reggie's life will follow at the Strawberry Church of Christ fellowship building.
Reggie's life reminds us that love does not need words, and that a gentle spirit can leave a lasting mark on every heart it touches.
