In honor of the life and journey of Reginald Prince Purnell, a beloved soul nurtured in the vibrant streets of Chicago, a man whose presence resonated with warmth and kindness, it is with heavy hearts that we announce his passing on June 25, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio. Reginald, born on January 21, 1976, held an unyielding passion for safeguarding as a Security Guard for Allied Security.
Raised by his father in Chicago, Reginald found solace in the summer breezes of Ohio, where he nurtured his spirit alongside his mother's cherished family. Coming up in life he discovered his love for basketball, music's rhythmic embrace, the art of poetry, and the captivating study of his Moorish American ancestors' vibrant culture.
Reginald was preceded in death by his mother Brenda Garner, father Edward Purnell sr., and Uncle Jethroe Purnell.
As we bid farewell to a life well-lived, let us cherish the echoes of Reginald's laughter, his poetic musings, and the love he showered upon his wife Jeryll, sons Reginald and DeAngelo, daughters Latrina and Retrina, brothers; Edward Purnell Jr. and Anton Garner; sister; Debra Purnell; Aunts; Drenda Barber, Latron Watson, Patricia Purnell, Rose Purnell-Johnson; Uncles; Lexworth Garner, James Garner, Edgar Garner and Robert Purnell; Best Friend/Brother Dewayne Wright and cherished family members. In his passing, we find solace in knowing that his spirit embarks on a new journey, carrying with him the love and memories etched in our hearts.
May the memory of Reginald Prince Purnell continue to inspire us, uplift us, and remind us of the profound beauty found within the tapestry of life. Embraced by the tender embrace of his Moorish American ancestors, Reginald's spirit shall forever dance among the stars, illuminating the path for those who follow.
