Reich (Rick) Leray Funkhouser (1945-2025)

Rick Funkhouser passed away peacefully at home on November 27, 2025, after an extended illness with his loving wife Cathy by his side.
He was born in Muncie, IN, on August 19, 1945. He graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1962, and worked at Delco Remy in Anderson, IN for 30 years. In 1996, he married Catherine Funkhouser, and they resided in Daleville, IN until moving to Florida in 1999.
Rick was a member of Club Zion Church where he volunteered with surf camp and the motorcycle ministry. He went on several mission trips to Haiti, Mongolia, Jamaica, and Nicaragua with WEGO Ministries where he would help with construction projects. He also participated in a home bible study group for 20 years.
Rick loved watching IU Basketball, Notre Dame Football, and NASCAR. He also enjoyed building and riding motorcycles, fishing, going to the gym, walking the beach at Jetty Park and listening to rock-n-roll music as loud as possible. Rick loved to share stories about his many adventures in life.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents Nila Wall and Cecil Funkhouser. Rick is survived by his wife Cathy Funkhouser, brother Kurt (Jeanie) Delph of Indian River, MI, sister Pamela Brown, Dunkirk, IN and his six children Michelle Stanley of Muncie, IN, Rick (Rhonda) Funkhouser of McCordsville, IN, Jimmy (Christy) Funkhouser of Markleville, IN, Andrea (Josh) Funkhouser of Chesterfield, IN, John (Dionne) Blevins Jr. of Indianapolis, IN and Jim Blevins of Evansville, IN. He was the proud Papaw to 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held in Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Life Outreach, 190 Seminole Lane Apt 302 Cocoa Beach, FL 32931 or Teen Missions International, 885 E Hall Rd Merritt Island, FL 32953.
