Rema V. Holcombe, 94, of Easley, South Carolina, entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Easley on September 3, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Inez Vaughn. For 75 years, Rema made her home at 2024 Powdersville Road, a place filled with faith, warmth, yummy treats, and cherished memories. She was the devoted wife of the late John E. Holcombe, with whom she shared 76 wonderful years of marriage, a true testament to enduring love and commitment.
Raised and educated in Easley, Rema attended Crosswell Elementary School, Easley Junior High, and Easley High School. Her roots in the community were deep, and her faith guided every aspect of her life. A lifelong attendee of Rock Springs Baptist Church for 94 years, and she served as a member joyfully in many capacities. She taught Sunbeams and Mission Friends, and for 43 years she lovingly taught the three-year-old Sunday School class. Her gentle spirit and devotion touched generations of children, many of whom held her in loving memory throughout their lives.
Rema’s life was marked by her steadfast faith in Jesus Christ. She lived out her beliefs through service, hospitality, and a heart that encouraged all who knew her, especially her children. Rema supported and cheered for her children in all of their endeavors throughout their lives. Her walk with the Lord was evident in her love for her family, her dedication to her church, and her service to her community. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace in her eternal home and reunited with the love of her life, her husband John.
A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Rema created a warm and welcoming home where everyone felt cared for. She also worked for brief periods at Judson Mill and Stone Manufacturing, where she embodied the same strong work ethic she displayed at home. She enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers, sitting on her front porch, teaching children at church, cooking family favorites, and caring for those she loved. Rema took great pride in preparing Sunday meals and ensuring no visitor ever left her home hungry. She also had a special love for animals, especially her barn cats and her cherished granddogs: Geordie, Hawk, and Dunkin.
Her life mirrored the flowers she nurtured so carefully, beautiful, rooted deeply in faith, and leaving a legacy that will continue to bloom long after her earthly journey.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Rema was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Sisk of Taylors, and Dot Mahaffey (Alvin) of Easley.
She is survived by her three loving children, Wayne Holcombe of Easley; David Holcombe (Faye) of Easley; and Deborah Holcombe of Lyman. She is also survived by five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Rema will be remembered for her sweet spirit, servant’s heart, and unwavering devotion to the Lord. Her example of faithfulness, humility, and unconditional love is a blessing to all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at Robinson Funeral Home in Powdersville, SC from 6-7:30pm. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Rock Springs Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Rema’s well-lived and faith-filled life.
